You sprawled your legs across the dashboard as you turned the music up a bit louder; you never liked being left all alone in a car at nighttime, especially in an empty car lot. Sighing, you listened to the music resonate through the small car but soon lost interest to whatever was playing as you observed the sky outside your window. It was really beautiful tonight. The moon was nearly full and it cast down a pale blue light making it seem as if the entire world were underwater. You smiled faintly at the thought as you watched the clouds swirl around like fish in pond, how peaceful and quiet would it be the world was submerged far below the oceans. You think it’d be rather nice. It just seemed like lately, everything has been so loud and annoying. It’s nice to just sit alone once and a while in a peaceful sort of quiet, to think and all. Deciding that, you shoved all your needless anxiety to the side, muted the music and shut your eyes. It was probably going to be a while before you would get another moment like this, might as well enjoy it. The moon always did have a calming effect on you.
As you were drifting off into sleep, you felt a chill crawl down your spine. You peeked through your lids just to make sure it was all in your head, but sadly, this time, it wasn’t. There right next to your window stood a smirking man holding a bat embedded with nails, ready to strike. You gasped as you watched the bat suddenly move and closed your eyes in the nick of time as the bat shattered the glass and sent shards flying all over you. You felt a sharp pain as on of the shards grazed your cheek. You screamed as you opened your eyes to see the face of what could only be described as death. As you grappled across the console to the other door you could feel his blood red eyes watching you like an animal might watch its prey. Pushing the door open you ran as fast as you could; your bare feet slapped the concrete painfully as you went but the pain didn’t last long as you felt a pair of arms wrap around you, lifting you up. You could feel the man’s chest rumble as he laughed at your pitiful attempt at escape.
“Whatcha running from, doll face?” he said smoothly as you started to kick and yell for someone, anyone, to come and help you…but even though you were sure someone had heard your cries, no one came. Laughing again, a sweet smelling cloth was forcefully shoved against your mouth and held there as you breathed in and as you did, your vision began to fade and your consciousness wane. You could barely keep your eyes open as you heard the man speak, “Looks like you’re coming with me.” and even though it was probably wrong, you couldn’t help but be lulled by his deep voice.
You were jostled awake by a particularly large bump in the road that made your head bang into the door you were leaning on. Groaning at the slight pain, you slowly stretched out your limbs and opened your eyes to see the calm night sky through the windshield. You must have fallen asleep. Large storm clouds now concealed the moon’s soft light and the world didn’t seem like an ocean anymore. It was just dark now.
“Hey doll, you finally awake?” You jumped at the sound of a man’s voice. You looked to your side to see some guy driving what you realized was definitely not your mom’s car.
“W-wh-where a-am I?” You asked, trying hard to hide the obvious fear in your voice but failing miserably. The guy smirked at your question and glanced over at you and that’s when you saw it, his red eyes and that was when it all came rushing back to you. The anxiety began to increase as it registered in your mind that you had just been kidnapped. Thoughts raced through your mind as you recalled everything you had ever watched about kidnappings, most likely you were going to be raped and murdered and left in a ditch or something. Just as tears were starting to slip down your cheeks as you imagined your funeral, you heard him speak again.
“I ain’t even done nothing yet so stop crying.” he told you, annoyance ringing in his voice. You nodded quickly and immediately wiped at your face and tried to swallow the lump in your throat. After several minutes, the tears finally ceased, and the guy grinned at you. “That’s better,”
Nothing else was said after that so you sat still and quiet as you tried to focus on anything else but your thoughts, so instead you decided to look out the window, maybe find something recognizable so that you could figure out just where you were and maybe where he was taking you. No such luck though; you didn’t see anything that you knew. This was so bad, you knew you shouldn’t have went with mom; for once your gut feeling was actually right, go figure! It was the one time you chose to ignore it.
Sniffling a bit, you tried to curl into a little ball and as you were doing so you noticed a jacket lying in your lap. It was a dark brown jacket with fuzzy black lining; on the front left side it had an anarchy symbol. The jacket looked kind of worn as if it had been used for a long time. Did he put this over me? I was pretty sure he had on this coat when he kidnapped me, you wondered as you realized that you were in your short shorts and tank top pajamas. You gave a secretive glance to the side and looked at him, and he really wasn’t all that bad looking, he had short dark brown hair with a little sprig of it pointing upwards near the top of his head and tanned skin that contrasted with the plain white shirt he had on. You noticed a pair of dog tags dangling from his neck and tried to read the name on them but couldn’t make anything out. He was young, probably just about a few years older than you but he seemed much older than that for some reason, like he’d been through a lot of stuff.
Without realizing it, you were now out rightly staring at him and when he noticed he shot you another arrogant smirk.
“Like what ya see, babe?” You blushed and turned away, embarrassed that you were even looking at all. I mean, I shouldn’t care if he’s cute or not, he kidnapped me! Wait, did I just internally admit I think he’s cute? You shook your head. I need to get a grip.
Somewhere along the way, you managed to doze off, which was probably a stupid move but you didn’t get a whole lot of sleep last night so you couldn’t help yourself. Luckily it was a light sleep because as soon as the car finally came to a stop, you woke up, just in time apparently because you could see the kidnapper exciting the car. Seeing your chance, you quickly opened the door and tried to run once again but you tripped and landed flat on your face. You heard him walk up behind you and laugh at you. You clenched your teeth and cursed your two left feet even though you knew you probably wouldn’t have made it far even if you hadn’t tripped. The boy picked you up by your elbow and started to drag you towards a house of some sort. You couldn’t really make out too many details but from what you could see it looked kind of run down.
You swallowed hard; this is probably where he was going to kill you or rape you or both. He didn’t turn on the lights as the two of you entered through the door, it was almost pitch black and you were amazed that he could get anywhere without bumping into anything. Upon reaching his destination you heard a faint jingle of what you presumed to be keys and the click of a lock. You held your breath as he pushed you forward into the room. By the sheer force of the push you nearly fell on your face again but you caught yourself.
“This is going to be your new room. I don’t give a shit if you hate it so don’t complain and don’t make noise, got it?”
Even though he couldn’t see it you nodded and said, “Yes sir,” It was strange to call someone near your age sir but you didn’t want to make him angry or anything; it was just to be safe. You heard him scoff.
“Sir, huh? Just call me Al, stupid.”
Then he shut the door and left you alone in the unfamiliar dark room. You breathed out a breath you hadn’t realized you had been holding. You didn’t know when he was going to come back but at the very least he wasn’t going to do anything at that moment. Figuring you could at least familiarize yourself with the room you were in, you stood up and cautiously felt your way around the area. To your surprise you found a medium sized bed tucked into the corner with a full feeling comforter and even a pillow but that was about all that was in the room other than a nightstand that was situated right next to the bed. You stood in there darkness for a moment debating what to do.
On one hand, you could do exactly what Al probably wanted you to and crash on the bed, vulnerable and easy to attack or on the other hand, you could go and sit in the corner and keep vigil until he decided to show himself again, then maybe you would have at least a chance at escaping or defending yourself… The latter of course was decidedly the best course of action. Besides, you reasoned as you made your way to a corner, I probably wouldn’t have gotten much more sleep anyway even if I choose the bed. You curled as tight as you could as you tried to peer through the darkness at the door, waiting for the man to come back. You knew how these sorts of situations worked. You couldn’t help but let your mind drift as the minutes ticked by; you wondered what your mother did when she realized that her favorite car had been broken into and that you had been vacated from the vehicle. Maybe she called the police and everyone was already looking for you.
